Weaving Histories
"Weaving Histories" is an ofrenda honoring and exploring the matriarchal roots of the artists Gloria Martinez-Granados and RaeAna Casillas. the mother-daughter duo explores the histories relating to their relationship through the installation. The ofrenda weaves histories of migration and familial teachings through personal photographs and familiar objects. In this collaboration, multigenerational teachings are both being remembered and passed on as the duo works together to recall the teachings of their ancestors.
This installation was installed on December 1st, 2023 as a part of the PhxArt After Hours event. Thank you to the Phoenix Art Museum for showcasing this piece.
